Artist bio: Metal Sculptor Mike Roig lives and creates his work through Heartworks Studio, located in Carrboro, NC. He received his Bachelor of Arts, in Studio Art, from the University of Maryland in 1985. Mike has been working with metal most of his life, appreciating its heavy and tough durability, yet malleability and openness to express the most delicate movements of balance and grace. Mike’s work follows his imagination and mental picture of his subject; therefore, he does not typically sketch ideas in advance. His tools are the tools he uses to create the sculpture: the metal bars, angles, torch, and welder.
