RSVP Community Theatre announces auditions for its production, in association with the City of Asheboro, of A. R. Gurney’s play for two people, Love Letters. Auditions will be held Saturday, March 12, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and Monday, March 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. upstairs at the Randolph Arts Guild, 123 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro NC 27203. Play dates are April 23-25 and April 29-30 & May 1 at the Sunset Theatre.
Love Letters is the story of a man and a woman who met each other as children. Throughout the ups and downs of their remaining lives they communicate concern, affection, and, occasionally, disaffection for each other through a persistent series of letters. Never lovers, they are always in love.
To inhabit these characters director Philip Shore encourages couples to audition as well as individuals. The play is typically presented as a heavily prepared reading. Many times, in other venues, there have been as many couples as the number of performances.
People who have wanted to perform, of all ages, from mid-twenties to senior adulthood, will find that this is a wonderful opportunity. No memorization. Limited blocking. Fewer rehearsals than a memorized play. Couples will be responsible for at least one performance, depending on the number of people who try out.
For an interesting, uplifting, exciting experience, whatever your experience level, grab your sweetie and come try out for Love Letters..
