Randolph County Partnership for Children – Call for Volunteers – Play Daze

2016-Play-Daze_VOLUNTEER-Sheet_ASHEBOROFrom Randolph County Partnership for Children:

Dear Play Partner:

We are delighted to host our 4th annual Play Daze as part of the Randolph County Partnership for Children’s annual Week of the Young Child event. Plans are underway for this community event to be held

Wednesday, April 13 at North Asheboro Park. We are excited to offer this unique and active day of play to more than 25 child care centers and over 700 children and families. By promoting practical ways for playful experiences and opportunities, we are aiming to improve the health of young children across Randolph County. Please note: Rain Date will be, Fri. April 15.

Play Daze celebrates the value of play and is designed to provide diverse play activities for children. The point is play for the sake of playing, to be physically active, to challenge each individual to be creative in mind and body, and to share in the joy of discovery and interaction without the need for competition. By using their imaginations, children immerse themselves in free play.

The Partnership is our community’s lead organization spearheading efforts to ensure all children enter school ready to succeed. By working with child care centers on improving nutrition and physical activity policies and practices, increasing active play by creating outdoor learning environments for children attending child care centers, and increasing healthy movement, we are committed to ensuring children have access to nutritious foods and opportunities to be physically active.

We are planning approximately 18 unique play areas for children to explore. Some of the activities include our newest play feature, the cardboard challenge, and many favorites: fort-building, rope climbing, clay and mud play, sand, dirt and water play, art, and a reading nook. We are looking for adult supervision and general assistance at each of the play areas. We hope you will join us for Play Daze by volunteering your time. The event will take place from 9:00 am – 5:30 pm. However, we value your time and ask if you can participate during any of the following time slots:

      Preschool play:       9: 30 – 11:30 am   12:00 – 2:00 pm

       School-age play:     3:00 – 5:30 pm

In preparation for Play Daze, we will have an orientation and updates specific for Play Daze 2016, for our volunteers, community partners, directors and teachers on Tuesday, April 5 from 5:00 – 6:00 pm at North Asheboro Park. At this time, we will provide a volunteer packet that includes directions, map of the play areas and parking map that will help the day flow smoothly.

If you have questions regarding the event or would like to contribute your time, please contact either of us at 336-629-2128 (extensions below). We look forward to you joining us for this great event.
