Randolph County Poetry Workshop w/ Joseph Bathanti, Ages 18 & Up

This class welcomes experienced poets, as well as those just starting out. We’ll consider various poems serving as examples of craft, voice, narrative strategies and voice. We’ll discuss key elements of poetry such as compressed, often impressionistic language; rhythm; stylized line and stanza breaks; attention to sound; the occasion of the poem; and the dramatic situation that inspired it. Hopefully, we’ll squeeze in one exercise. Students should bring 10 copies of an original poem.  $20.  Sept. 21, 3p-5p.  Pre-registration and payment due by Sept. 14.
