Call to Artists

The City of Asheboro, NC in conjunction with the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce, and the Randolph Arts Guild invites artists to submit work for the 6th Annual Downtown Sculpture Exhibition. The downtown area is the renewed vibrant heart of the community and is home to many small shops, a number of restaurants and public space.  Weekday and weekend pedestrian traffic is usually fairly brisk. 

• The sculptures will be sited in the Asheboro downtown area and are to remain on exhibit (18 mos.) from October 15, 2012 thru April 15, 2014.
• Sculptures must be large scale, durable and able to be secured sufficiently to concrete pads or ground.
• Participating artists will receive an honorarium of $750.00 to be paid in two installments with the first $400 payment upon completion of the sculpture’s installation and the second $350 payment after said sculpture is removed at the end of the exhibition.
• The City of Asheboro will have personnel and equipment for assistance in installation and deinstallation of work.
• Insurance during the exhibition will cover liability, and loss/damage (excludes loss or damage to gradual deterioration caused by time, weather or inherent vice) beginning after installation and ending on either the date the work is removed or the last day of deinstallation. 
• There will be a 10% commission on sales.

Selection of work will be first screened by the exhibition coordinator and then presented to sponsors and community officials for approval. The sponsors have expressed an interest in showing the work of emerging sculptors for this show so advanced students and recent graduates with appropriate existing work are encouraged to apply.
 
Interested artists may submit images of up to three sculptures.

Digital images should be sized adequately for onscreen display and should be in a jpeg format. CD’s with images can be mailed to RAG, P.O. Box 1033, Asheboro, NC 27204.  All CD’s should be labeled with the name of the artist.  CD’s will not be returned.
 
2. Image identification list title, medium, dimensions and price, if for sale or its insurance value for each work submitted.
 
3. Current Resume that includes contact information, address, phone #, email.

4. Short Bio/Artist Statement
