This three-class course will teach the fundamentals of canvas stretching and prepping/surfacing (gesso and mediums discussed) for a desired finished painting by the student. From discussion about stretcher bars to the execution of building your canvas, you’ll learn it all! Cost of this class is only, $150 for members and $155 for non-members. Join Diana for a fun and relaxing way to create your own abstract art! You will learn a few techniques and pouring mediums to create different variations of acrylic pour art on canvas. Please dress appropriately for a mess! The painting will need a few days to cure and will be available for pick-up the Monday after class. No experience required, this class is for everyone! Cost of this class is only $50 for members and $55 for non-members. Enrollment Deadline is April 1.

Come chill, relax, breathe deep and RENEW while we create! Rock therapy is not only relaxing, but also satisfying. We will learn where this art originated from and how to create our own mandala for our gardens, homes and stone markers. We will offer a tea sampling the night of Zen Rocks, from Carriage House Tea, to sip while you relax and paint! All materials will be provided, but if you have a smooth rock that is 4 – 6 inches wide you are more than welcome to bring that. Cost of class is $35 for members or $40 for non-members. Registration deadline is Monday April 9th.
Janice is the former President and Executive Director of LinkAbility a Non-Profit Organization located in Durham, NC. Mrs.Brahms-Butler created programming for Students and Senior Citizens in the Community and it was through Social Action, building inter-generational connections that created a cultural paradigm. The programs focused on recycle, reuse, reduce- Janice made it a fun, awakening, artistic, service journey for all. (Funding provided in part by Mayor Bill Bell). While she has service at her core, she is also an artist. She has taught art at CC Spaulding Elementary School for one year, the school did not have funding for supplies, so she created a Recycled Supplies Art Program. This year she moved to Asheboro. She and her husband wanted to focus on homesteading and their arts. Janice works in many mediums from glass fusion, mosaics, jewelry, fiber art, painting, recycling and crating all the way, every day. She has had art juried by the Nasher Museum in Durham. She lives on the homestead with her husband nate and their two labradoodles.
Oil Painting Workshop with Aaron Thompson Ages 18+
Each Friday May 4-25 12-3 pm
A traditional oil Painting class that discusses the use of oil paints with different oil mediums( Liquin, Stand oil, Linseed oil and etc.), and different techniques with shading and texture. Subject matter and size will be the choice of student. Starting with discussions about subject matter and form, Aaron will lead his students toward a final project over the course of four classes. Note: this class meets weekly on Fridays in May! $150 members, $155 nonmembers Enrollment Deadline is April 28.
Animal Anatomy (A Drawing Class) with Cara Bevan Ages 11+ Saturday, May 19, 10 am-2 pm
A fundamental part of drawing animals is learning their structure and anatomy. In this workshop, we will be studying small mammals from the bones* up! We will be able to touch and turn over bones from small animals, label them, draw and make notes, and better understand how they come together. Some skeletons will be pre-assembled so we can draw them, while others we will practice aligning ourselves to satisfy our curiosity and learn how they help animals move. We’ll also go over musculature and form, so be sure to bring your sketchbooks. Photographs are welcome too! *Everything is gathered naturally in an eco friendly manner. $40 members, $45 nonmembers Enrollment Deadline is May 4.
