Keep your indoors green all year long with a mini garden of succulents! This two-day course we will teach you to work in front and back loops as well as to increase and decrease stitches. Students must be comfortable with the basic crochet stitches. Come join us as we earn our fake green thumbs during this amigurami lesson!  This is a two night  class.  Students will be required to purchase 1 size E crochet hook; green and brown yarn – 50 grams each (minimum); stitch markers; sewing/yarn needle;  small bag fiber-fil and 1-2 small terracotta pots.

Leaf Bowls with Brooke Avery Ages 8+

Wednesday November 5th and 12th

from 6-8pm, 2 DAY CLASS

Fall is in the air! Come join Brooke Avery as she shows you how to create a bowl made out of clay leaves! Bring some leaves to class! No experience is needed, once dried and fired, students will take home their creations. Class registration deadline is November 3rd. Price includes clay, glazes and firing fees.

Gourd Frogs with Cara Bevan Ages 11+

Saturday, November 10, 10 am-1pm

$50 members, $55 nonmembers

Frogs are our friends! We’re going to be making our own gourd frog or toad in this class. The instructor will teach you step-by-step how to create one using a gourd for its body, adding wire and epoxy clay for its limbs, and sculpting the head with realistic-looking eyes. Using books and photos for ideas, we’ll also be painting them. Students will leave with a finished frog that is 5 to 6 inches long.

Paper Marbling with Anne Murray Ages 18+

Saturday, November 10, 10 am-4:30 pm

Learn the magic of marbling with acrylic paints. Marbling involves floating pigments on water and creating designs with a variety of tools.  Create both traditional and contemporary patterns, ending the day with many decorated sheets suitable for a variety of further artistic projects or to simply frame “as is.”

Crochet 101 with Grace Stamper Ages 18+

Tuesdays, November 13 and 27, 5-8 pm

Unravel the mystery behind the art of crochet as we break down the five basic stitches behind seemingly complex crochet projects. We will work on building a stitch swatch while we progress through the stitches, so grab your H-size hook (and a friend or two!) and join us for an evening of fun! This class will cover the chain, single/double/triple and half-double crochet stitches. Students can repeat the class as many times as they wish!  This is a one night class.  Please choose one night when you register.  Students will be required to purchase one skein of yarn, any color (not Red Heart brand) and one size H or I hook.

Begin exploring the “Elements” with this advanced and stunning crochet square design. This course take you step-by-step through the initial square portion of the popular Elements Crochet-Along and will include blocking instructions. Students must be comfortable with the basic stitches as well as front and back post stitches. This isn’t a pattern you’ll want to miss for sure! Grab a friend and join us as  we begin this exciting project.  This is a two night  class.  Students will be required to purchase  #2 or 3 weight yarn; a F-size hook; pins for blocking; and a yarn needle.

Clay Snowmen with Leigh Blanchard Ages 18+

Do you love pottery and items made from clay?  Then, this is the class for you. You will use hand building techniques to create your very own set of Snowmen to display for the Christmas or Winter Season.  It will be a two part class.  In the first class you will create your snowmen and  in the second class you will glaze your snowmen.  This is a two part class: first class will be for construction and second class will be for glazing.  The class will be held at Archdale Parks and Recreation at Creekside Park, 214 Park Drive in Archdale, NC.

Design and Create A Book with Anne Murray Ages 18+

Friday, November 30, 10am-4:30pm

Enrollment Deadline is November 23.

Learn how to create a book from cover to what’s within (known as textblock).  We begin by learning the different parts of a book, followed by sewing the text block, measuring and creating both decorative end papers and covers.  Lastly, we will attach textblock to the cover, ending the day with a unique and personal journal/sketchbook, to keep or to give as a gift.
