RSVP Community Theatre and Roundhouse Actors Professional Theatre, in association with the City of Asheboro, merrily issue a call to all Cratchetts, Marleys and Fezziwigs in the community to try out for this year’s edition of A Christmas Carol, the Charles Dickens classic, to be performed as reader’s theatre during Christmas on Sunset. Auditions will be held at the Randolph Arts Guild, 123 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, on Saturday, November 21, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Jim Langer will direct this production using his adaptation of the treasured Christmas story of the remarkable changes to dour old, sour old Ebenezer Scrooge.
Reader’s theatre is a particularly easy and fun way to enjoy a performance experience. A limited number of rehearsals and no lines to learn make it a snap for young and old alike. As always, Director Langer will perform the role of Scrooge. A difference this year is that RSVP will co-produce the show with Roundhouse Actors Professional Theatre, a newly organized troupe under the leadership of Mr. Langer.
There will be two performances, both on the evening of Christmas on Sunset, December 11, at the Sunset Theatre. No advance preparation is necessary for the auditions, just come and “read cold” for a broad variety of roles, both large and small, masculine and feminine, young and seasoned.
