BrushStrokes for KinderFolks with Kate Keith

BrushStrokes for KinderFolks. Sign Up Today! Announcing the eventful return of the BrushStrokes for KinderFolks program! Years ago, the Randolph Arts Guild was filled with the sounds of little ones creating art! The RAG and instructor Kate Keith are recreating the program! BrushStrokes for KinderFolks will be available as one class to begin with in the month of January for ages 0-5. As interest and enrollment grows, we will split the classes at different times for different age groups.  Class meets monthly every Tuesday at 10:00 am. Cost is only $50 per month (members) and $60 per month (non-members).


Kindermusik with Ellane Campbell!

Starting on Thursday January 10th

from 10:00am and 11:00am

Kindermusik is Exploding in Popularity! Ellane Campbell will be teaching this music-filled class that will be celebrating the unique joys of your growing child. Each week your child will love singing, dancing, and playing instruments with you and their new friends and you’ll love helping them practice a wide variety of abilities such as gross and fine motor skills, turn-taking, social skills, and active listening. In class, we’ll also share tips and ideas for using music throughout the week. Plus, the fun (and learning!) continue with the Kindermusik@Home digital home materials, including music from class, musical activities, and each month’s story. Every Thursday of each month, a different four week theme unit is taught. Monthly Cost – $49 per RAG member child and $59 per non-member child.

Pottery Fundamentals with Brooke Avery

Teen Classes Ages 11-15 / 4-6 pm

Adult Classes Ages 16+ / 6-8 pm

Have you ever been curious about clay? Want to get your hands into the mud and be creative? Then this class is just for you! Beginners will learn the fundamentals of pottery: wedging clay, centering the clay on the wheel, and pulling up the clay to make different forms. The three basic forms to make on the wheel are a mug, plate and bowl. After that, you should feel more comfortable with exploring different shapes and forms, such as jars, bottles, vases. This class is not limited to wheel throwing either.  We will be going over hand-building as well. Is there a project that you are wanting to make? We can do that too! We will also explore surface design, how to apply images, patterns, slips and glazes to the clay.

Cost of classes are $145 members, $155 non-members.  Contact us for more information on class times.  Limited to 3 students on wheel and 3 student hand builders. 6 students max for entire class.

Artist Info:  Brooke Avery grew up and currently resides in Trinity, NC. Always having a passion for art and creativity, she went on to study art and design at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. It wasn’t until there where she fell in love with clay. After graduating college, she went on to being a full time potter and teaching pottery classes at local art studios. Her background of art and design really shines through on each piece of pottery that is created. Brooke loves teaching and sharing her knowledge of clay with others, that’s why she is currently going back to school to get her Art Education license, to teach art in public schools. Outside of teaching, making pottery and going to school, Brooke loves to spend time with her friends and family.


Valentine’s Day Cupcake Decorating with Miranda Owensby

Monday January 14th, 6-8 pm

Class will be at Archdale Parks and Rec Creekside Center

Learn all the techniques professionals use to decorate beautiful and tasty cupcakes. Each student will decorate three cupcakes. A supply list for purchase will be provided prior to the class. Cost of this class is $45 members and $50 non-members, with a 3 student minimum. Enrollment Deadline is January 14th.  Age: 18+ unless accompanied by an adult.

Paint a Winter Scene with Marcus Lawson

Friday, January 18th from 6-8pm

Join this talented local artist and Randolph County schools art teacher as he hosts an artsy Painting Party at the Guild. Students will paint a calm winter scene on a cold winter’s night. Bring your own snack and non-alcoholic beverage. All supplies provided. Cost of this class is, $35 for members and $45 for non-members. Enrollment Deadline is January 12, with a 3 student minimum.  Age 18+ unless accompanied by an adult.

Fabric Marbling with Anne Murray

January 19th 10-4 pm

Learn the magic of marbling with acrylic paints. Marbling involves floating pigments on water to create designs with a variety of tools in both traditional and contemporary patterns. Students will leave with at least one beautiful washable silk scarf that can be worn and one cotton square. Cost of this class is $100 members and $105 non-members, with a 5 student minimum. Enrollment Deadline is January 12th.  Age 18+

Artist info: Anne Murray is not only a Master Marbler but has studied and mastered the craft of book binding over the years.  She has been teaching the craft of marbling here at R.A.G. for a few years, and focuses her work on creating functional items that are pleasing to both eye and hand. https://www.annesbooksandpapers.com


Gourd Pet Snails with Cara Bevan

Saturday, January 26th from 11am- 2:30pm

How do you make snails out of gourds? Learn from a master! Students will construct three snails using locally grown gourds and epoxy clay.  Then we will paint them to look so authentic they could fool their real cousins! You will decide if you want individual critters or stacked. All materials are provided. Cost of this class is, $45 for members and $50 for non-members. Enrollment Deadline is January 19, with a 3 student minimum. Age 11+

Artist info:  Cara Bevan is an accomplished multifaceted artist who has been teaching here at RAG for over 2.5 years.  Though she specializes in sculpting and gourd artistry, she is teaches in both group and private settings in various medias, including painting, hand-built clay sculpting, pen and ink, sketching and drawing.  http://www.carabevan.com/


Hand-spinning on a Drop Spindle with Le’Tonya Teague

Saturday, January 19th from 10am-12pm

Are you a knitter or fiber artist who has thought about spinning your own yarn for a special project? Or a youngster who wants to have fun with yarn?  Here’s your chance to learn hand-spinning using a drop spindle. All supplies provided. Cost of this class is $35 for members and $45 for non-members. Enrollment deadline is January 12th with a 3 student minimum. Age 6+

Artist info:  Over the last 6 years, Le’Tonya Teague has been mastering knitting, and has established herself as a designer and teacher in the Triad area.  She has been teaching drop spindle and weaving here at RAG for the last few years, and loves to pass on this old tradition of crafting from the heart.
