Celebrate Love and Spring with a Longstitch Journal with Ann Murray

Saturday February 2nd from 10-4pm

$110.00 members, $115.00 non-members
5 student minimum.  Age 18+

Longstitch binding is a method of attaching folded pages directly to the cover that allows for unique and creative patterns on the spine and allows adding decorative elements (beads, unmatched earrings, ribbon, etc.).  Students will use book cloth or re-purposed leather for the book covers.  Students will be guided through planning and execution of a unique spine design.  The result is a personalized journal, sketchbook, garden planner, diary or even a manuscript.  DEADLINE TO REGISTER January 25.

Artist info: Anne Murray is not only a Master Marbler but has studied and mastered the craft of book binding over the years.  She has been teaching the craft of marbling here at R.A.G. for a few years, and focuses her work on creating functional items that are pleasing to both eye and hand. https://www.annesbooksandpapers.com

 

Handspinning on a Drop Spindal 

Saturday, February 9   10:00 a.m.-Noon

3 student minimum.  Age 6+

Are you a knitter or fiber artist who has thought about spinning your own yarn for a special project?  Or a youngster who wants to have fun with yarn?  Here’s your chance to learn handspinning using a drop spindle.  All supplies provided. DEADLINE TO REGISTER February 2.

Artist info:  Over the last 6 years, Le’Tonya Teague has been mastering knitting, and has established herself as a designer and teacher in the Triad area.  She has been teaching drop spindle and weaving here at RAG for the last few years, and loves to pass on this old tradition of crafting from the heart.

 

“The Hot Date Candle” Class with Janice Brahms-Butler

Tuesday, February 12, 6-8 pm

$60 members, $65 nonmembers
3 student minimum, Age 18+

Featuring multi scented candles, antique/vintage glassware (1 per student) & two smaller frosted glass jars, per student.  Example: “The Hot Date Candle” starts with Leather scent to Whiskey and ends with Creme Brûlée.  Take this class in February or give your sweetheart  a gift of candle-making for class in March 12th.  DEADLINE TO REGISTER February 5.

Colored Butterflies with Cara Bevan

Saturday, February 16   11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

$30.00 members, $35.00 non-members
3 student minimum, Age 11+

Make the first butterflies of the season come to life!  Students will learn about butterflies and create their own realistic drawings.  No experience using colored pencils is needed.  Students will learn blending techniques and use pens to create intricate patterns.  Participates choose one  or more butterflies and will leave with a drawing(s) to frame. DEADLINE TO REGISTER February 8.

Artist info:  Cara Bevan is an accomplished multifaceted artist who has been teaching here at RAG for over 2.5 years.  Though she specializes in sculpting and gourd artistry, she is teaches in both group and private settings in various medias, including painting, hand-built clay sculpting, pen and ink, sketching and drawing.  http://www.carabevan.com/

 

Paint a Winter Scene with Marcus Lawson

CLASS HELD AT ARCHDALE PARKS AND REC CREEKSIDE PARK

Monday, February 18   6:00-8:00 p.m.

3 student minimum, Age 18+ unless accompanied by an adult.

Join this talented local artist and Randolph County schools art teacher at an artsy painting party at the Guild.  Students will paint a calm winter scene on a cold winter’s night.  Bring your own snack and beverage.  All supplies provided. DEADLINE TO REGISTER February 12.

Beginning Cake Decorating- Six Inch Cakes with Miranda Owensby   

Friday, February 22   6:00-8:00 p.m.

$45.00 members, $50.00 non-members
3 student minimum, Age 18+ unless accompanied by an adult

Students will learn to decorate one six inch round cake and six cupcakes with buttercream icing.  Class will be taught at the beginner level but experienced students are welcome to improve their skills..  Students will provide some supplies needed to decorate.  List available upon registration.  DEADLINE TO REGISTER February 14.
